Vocational Team Produces Holiday Wreaths

Adding color and beauty to the holidays was the result of the Randolph Academy Vocational Team's project where they learned to make fresh evergreen wreaths. The wreaths were decorated with bows and made available to anyone who wished to purchase one. The young people who produced the wreaths were also able to make and keep one for themselves.

Students involved in the project included Katrena L, Matt E, Tyler O, Zack B, Nathan B, and Caroline S.

About Randolph Academy's Vocational Program

Randolph Academy's Vocational Program is for students working towards an IEP (Individualized Education Program) diploma. This course of study also helps the young people involved meet their transition goals.

The focus of the program is for students to learn three phases of entry level work skills. Those skills are: 1) Punching in and out each day; 2) Task completion; and 3) Following a supervisors directions.

Every 10 weeks, students rotate between jobs in four work sections, which are horticulture; cookie cutters; T-4 products; and technology. Certain young people also perform paid, independent work study jobs under the guidance and supervision of Academy staff. These individuals are promoted to other responsibilities as they demonstrate success in their respective work environment.

Students in the Vocational Program also learn how to fill out various work applications as well as developing skills in job interviews.
